Representatives of the Department of Environmental Law of the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University took part in the II Forum on Environment and Sustainable Development, held on April 17, 2024 in Kyiv
Olha Stativka, Assistant of the Environmental Law Department, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Advocacy, and Oleksii Onishchenko, Assistant of the Environmental Law Department, representative of the Center for Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection, participated in the II Forum on Ecology and Sustainable Development, which was dedicated to a wide range of issues related to the “green” transformation of Ukraine, the new climate policy, the implementation of ESG standards, as well as the protection of environmental rights and environmental safety.
The event was attended by government representatives and scientists, as well as lawyers and business. This allowed the discussion to cover a number of issues that are currently of concern to society in the environmental sphere. This format of the event allows for effective cooperation between all stakeholders for a common goal – the development of Ukraine as a European state on the basis of sustainable ecologically balanced development.
PhD in Law, Assistant of the Department of Environmental Law Stativka O.O. became a speaker in the section “Environmental Safety and Protection of Environmental Rights” with the report “Prospects for Improving Mechanisms for Stimulating the Transition to Renewable Energy Sources as a Key Vector of Environmental Safety”, in which she revealed legal problems and prospects for improving legislation regulating the means of stimulating business representatives to switch to environmentally friendly, environmentally friendly technologies, taking into account the positive practice of European countries.
In the process of speeches and discussions, the Forum participants listened to the reports of the Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Environmental Policy and Nature Management Oleg Bondarenko on the green transformation of Ukraine through the prism of parliamentary choice, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Yevhen Fedorenko, the head of the State Geology and Subsoil Service of Ukraine Roman Opimakh, adviser to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Maksym Popov, who reported on the implementation of the Environmental Treaty for Ukraine, professor of environmental sciences at the University of Portsmouth (Great Britain).
