Workshop “Protection of the rights of national minorities and indigenous peoples in Ukraine on the way to approximation to EU standards”
On July 1, 2024, the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University hosted a workshop “Protection of the Rights of National Minorities and Indigenous Peoples in Ukraine on the Way to Approximation to EU Standards”. The event was organized by the European University Institute (Florence, Italy), Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University (NLU) (Kharkiv, Ukraine), Università di Genova (Genoa, Italy).
During the workshop, presentations and discussions were held on the issues of protection of national minorities and indigenous peoples in the context of Ukraine’s integration into the European Union, in particular, the requirements for accession of our country recommended by the European Union and set out in the comments of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), and their adaptation to Ukrainian legislation on the legal status of national minorities, what steps Ukraine should take during the war and what steps should be taken after it ends.
The workshop was held within the framework of the joint project Supporting Ukraine’s Progress on EU Reforms (SUPER) (European University Institute (EUI), Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University (NLU), University of Genoa).
The Supporting Ukraine’s Progress on EU Reforms (SUPER) project (European University Institute (EUI), Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University (NLU), University of Genoa) is planning to hold joint events in the near future. In particular, an event on this topic will be held in Florence in October.
